During the Autumn, Volunteer Centre Sutton has run a short-term programme of volunteering opportunities for the local Hong Kong Community, to help Hong Kongers learn and develop new skills and practice their English, as well as providing opportunities to meet local residents and get to know their local community.
A group of 23 adults and children from the local Hong Kong community, as well as some of our Young Commissioners, joined the Friends of Beddington Park, the Rotary Club of Carshalton Park and several local residents, to take part in the Beddington Park Big Autumn Clean Up.
"It's wonderful to see so many Hong Kongers wanting to get involved. Many thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who helped in the Great Clean Up in Beddington Park on Sunday. They made a huge contribution to keeping the park free of litter." Muriel McIntosh, Friends of Beddington Park
Sutton offers more than 90 parks and green spaces, covering nearly 500 hectares of land and the Beddington Park Big Autumn Clean Up is just one of many events open to all that are organised throughout the year. From litter picking to bulb planting, there are plenty of opportunities for local residents to help nurture and improve our green spaces.
