An introduction to our volunteer projects

Volunteer Centre Sutton run a broad range of our own volunteer projects, all managed by our team. Please click on the links below to find out more.

MAPS Mentoring is an award-winning programme supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential through the support of a one-to-one volunteer adult role model.

Sutton Befrienders aims to reduce social isolation and loneliness for older people and adults with support needs living in the London Borough of Sutton. We do this through matching vetted and trained volunteers with people who have little or no social connections and regard themselves as lonely. As well as providing one to one support, we run a wide range of group activities tailored to their needs.

The Young Commissioners are a driven and diverse group of young people of secondary school age, from different backgrounds and different schools across the borough, who meet regularly to help positively shape services and influence decision making in Sutton for young people. They are one part of the Volunteer Centre Sutton Youth Participation programme, along with the Youth Board.

Our Health Navigators conduct free health and wellbeing checks for residents and ensure that everyone has access to vital health information. This project is run in partnership with NHS South West London Integrated Care System.

Our Ukraine support project welcomes, and supports the integration of, Ukrainian families, children and adults who have arrived in Sutton since the war started. This project is fully funded by Sutton Council.

Our Benefits Form Filling project runs in partnership with Citizens Advice Sutton and Together for Sutton. Residents are referred to us to meet with a trained volunteer, to help them complete vital benefits forms to access financial support.

Our Afghanistan Support project welcomes, and supports the integration of, new residents from Afghanistan to the London Borough of Sutton. This project is fully funded by Sutton Council.

Core20Plus5 is a NHS approach to support the improvement of health outcomes at both national and system level.

The Community Volunteer Squad is a project that connects local volunteers with residents in need, to perform basic, one-off, 'helpful tasks'.

The Integrating Sutton project welcomes, and supports the integration of, new Hong Kong residents to the London Borough of Sutton.

MAPS Advocacy provides independent Advocates for children and young people in Sutton involved in child protection proceedings, Looked After Children and Care Leavers.

Community Health and Wellbeing Workers provide holistic support for entire households in specifically targeted areas. In Partnership with​ South West London NHS​ and Benhill and Belmont GP Centre.
